There lives within me a need to be a maker…

I strive to find the beauty and power in everyday detritus. The unexpected use and manipulation of utilitarian materials, yarn, clothing, plastic, natural and found objects and repurpose them for their aesthetic virtues. This transformation of materials subverts expectations. Fibre art, historically a domestic craft, typically ‘women's work', is reclaimed in order to create large scale and powerful pieces, through needle and thread.

There is something about the three dimensions of fibre art that make the palpable effort of the process a tangible part of the viewing experience.

Fibre art satisfies my desire for constant discovery, pushing limits, growth, learning and potential. The discovery and process is where the magic happens. When this resonates in the viewer or evokes something unconscious in me, it reveals yet deeper layers and ways of knowing and being.
